Dog Biscuits Made Easy

Healthy Homemade Dog Food Recipes - Home Made Dog Biscuits

If you have a dog, I'm sure you have spent plenty of time in the doggie aisle of WalMart, Target, or your favorite pet store searching for the perfect dog treat to give your dog upon your return home. Because they certainly deserve a treat for staying home, wouldn't you agree? But did you ever stop and think that you may be doing your dog more harm than good by giving them a dog biscuit sold off the shelf. You really have no idea what you are really feeding them, or how much fat you are feeding them.

The logical solution to this problem would be to make the biscuit yourself! Now you will know exactly what ingredients are in the homemade treat you are feeding them. As long as you remember that a treat is just that...a treat. Like an Oreo cookie is just an Oreo cookie. But let's not make a meal out of it! Although, the recipe I am about to share with you is much more healthy than that Oreo cookie you treated yourself with.

Biscuits For Dogs

• 1 cup oatmeal – uncooked
• 1/3 cup margarine
• 1 tablespoon beef bouillon granules
• 5 1/2 cups hot water
• 1 tablespoon garlic powder -- optional
• 3/4 cup powdered milk
• 3/4 cup cornmeal
• 3 cups whole wheat flour
• 1 whole egg -- beaten

Pour hot water over oatmeal, margarine, and bouillon; let stand for 6 min.
Stir in milk, cornmeal, and egg. Add flour, 1/2 c. at a time; mix well after each addition. Knead 3 - 4 min., adding more flour it necessary to make a very STIFF dough. Roll or pat dough to 1/2" thickness. Cut into dog bone shapes with cookie cutter.
Bake at 325 degrees for 50 min. on baking parchment Allow to cool and dry out until hard.
Store in container.

I hope you will discover how easy this is. How you will also be saving yourself money, and giving your dog a treat that is much better for them. To get more great receipes for homemade dog food meals, and dog treats, follow the link below.

Comparing Ingredients Of Dog Food Brands

Canned Dog Food Research

We have recently come to the conclusion that commercial dog foods are nutritionally evil, and that the best diet is a homemade diet. But three factors may still sway you towards purchasing, rather than making your own food for your pet.

1) You're just not much of a cook,
2) There's the whole (obvious) convenience factor.
3) You may not be confident in your abilities to correctly ascertain your dog's needs, and the appropriate nutritional balance.

We came to your rescue! In a recent study of all the major brands (and not so major brands) of dog food, were all put to the test, rating one against the other. Paying close attention to all the ingredients that make up their product. We wanted to see if there were any dog food products that were safe to feed your dog, that wouldn't possibly cause health problems in the coming years..

Very interesting to see none of the major brands making it on the recommended list! So if you decide to go withthe winners, you will have to make the purchase online, or possibly check at the pet stores and maybe your vets office for the dog food that topped the list.

One ingredient that came up quite often was Menadione Sodium Bisulfate, a synthetic form of Vitamin K. This ingredient is both unnecessary and potentially harmful. It has been linked to the following:

v Liver cell cytotoxicity
v Weakened immune systems
v Potential mutagenic effects
v Damage to the natural Vitamin K cycle
v Hemolytic anemia and jaundice
v Direct toxicity in high doses
v Irritation of the skin and mucous membranes
v Allergic reactions and eczema

Bad marks were given to those that used corn, wheat, "by-products", dairy, sugars, artificial colors, flavors and chemical preservatives. It was surprising to see corn as the first ingredient on many of the major dog food cans. Other common finds were Chicken By-product
Meal, Meat Meal, Meat & Bone Meal, Animal Fat.

You will certainly want to get the scoop on who scored the highest, and who didn't make the list at all. This study may motivate you to try your hand at baking a delicious homemade doggie recipe, or doggie biscuit in the near future!

Healthy Homemade Dog Snacks

Give A Dog A Bone - Recipe For A Happy Healthy Dog

We all love snacks and so do our dogs, but unfortunately most owners share their human snacks, which leads to canine disease and obesity. A good healthy treat for your dog will make your dog healthier and happier in the long run!

When To Share Your Homemade Doggie Treats?

Tiding your dog over until dinner time

Showing appreciation for your dog's good behavior

Rewarding your dog for learning a new trick or specific behavior

Rewarding your dog for repeating a trick or specific behavior

When you go on picnics or long walks (I stuff one or 2 in my pocket)

When you're eating junk food and your dog is giving you those "What about me?" eyes.

As dessert to a main meal (be sure to make the main meal smaller if you are calorie controlling) and..

When you just want to show your dog you love them!

It won't take you long to come up with more great uses for these dog treat recipes. And the great thing about them is, each batch creates heaps of snacks that takes your dog well over a week to eat or longer (or less if you spoil your dog!)

Canned Dog Food Or Homemade Dog Food

Comparing Value - Dog Nutrition - Recipes

I was always led to believe that you couldn't take better care of your dog than if you fed him a name brand canned dog food...and a little dry food to complete his diet. But recently I found out that feeding your dog a calorie controlled, home-made dog food, is so much better for them!

Amazing Benefits Home Feeding Your Dog

Your dog lives up to 8.3-years longer

Your dog looks and feels much healthier.

Follow the calorie recommendations, and your dog is a perfect, slim and attractive weight.

Your dog is much less likely to get to ear and skin infections, worms and fleas.

Your dog ABSOLUTELY loves the meals you cook and loves you more than ever for making them.

Your dog's teeth are much cleaner and breath smells much better.

Your dog passes up to 80% less gas.

You dog's poo is smaller and has much less stink, so cleaning up after your dog is no longer a revolting 'stomach-turner'.

Your dog is better behaved (chemicals in dog food are proven to cause behavior problems).

You save money, it's actually much cheaper than buying well-known brands of dog food.

You can add the single most important ingredient that is only possible in home-made food --> Your love!
